Week 32
England
-officially autumn and I love all the colorful leaves <3
-got to take my comp to nandos (yummy chicken restaurant)
- went hiking (more of a nature walk through some fields) today with Nathan, and ended up at this place called beauvale priory. It was just in the middle of some fields next to the forest, so aesthetic
-last p day, we had a zone activity and did traditional fall games like bobbing for Apple's (everyone's heads got drenched because the bucket was so small and deep), donuts on a string (sugar everywhere) and playing with konkers (chestnuts on a string you try to hit the other persons) haha so fun and weird
Funny
-went to visit this guy in our ward who has some health problems so he's homebound. He told us the story how he was baptised like 30 odd years ago, but a few months later was in a serious accident so he didn't remember getting baptised or even meeting with missionaries or anything with the church. Fast forward to a few years ago, he was doing a study of the bible and requested a book of mormon and so missionaries taught him and he decides he wants to get baptised, they came back to him and said he couldn't because it turns out he's already a member! Hahaha so that was funny/incredible he found his way again
-visiting a less active with her house decked out with cats.... like the most I've ever seen. It was amazing
-visiting a ward member on her 60th birthday, and hearing her say all her life drama and match making everyone in the ward with another member haha lol (everyone in the ward pretty much is 60 and above)
-this Egyptian guy asked where we were from, we said America! He could not believe it, he was like you must be German or Ukrainian or Russian, but no not American! Haha I am like the most American American I know dude lol so funny
- We were invited over to three different families houses for general conference.... I ate so much and it was hilarious sister ferrin and I were so full and they kept giving us food. Bless. It was like, eat a meal, few hours later oh here's another full course meal, and then boom another one two hours later. Haha Don't think I'll be able to eat for a couple of days. We were spiritually and physically nourished from general conference
Spiritual
-zone fireside on how we are children of God. It's so true! I'm grateful for that knowledge and I wanna share it with the world
- reading alma 32 with Nathan and kristian before kristian embarked to Japan! It was so powerful, and another recent convert named Kane showed up at the end and testified of his experience with his faith growing and it was so cool!
-when we visited the homebound man, a member was able to bless the sacrament for him. I'm so grateful for the priesthood and the ability that it has to bless everyone's lives, and for sacred ordinances like the sacrament that we get to remember our saviour!
-did a lil training on faith in district council, I am grateful for everything I learned about it. I've been working on personal progress on my mission and started with faith. It's amazing how much faith can make things happen and it's the foundation of everything in the gospel!
-general conference!!!! Enough said. I just loved it. I love the prophet. I loved seeing the mtc choir and tbh teared up a little when they sang "truth is restored once more" its so true! Im so grateful to be apart of the Lord's work!
-so on the way home from Nottingham last Monday, we met a girl named Becky. She told us some of her struggles and how she wants to change her life. It's been cool to meet with her this week and really simplifying the gospel to help her understand and testifying of these amazing truths about god and Jesus Christ. Last night, we dropped by her house and watched Neil L Andersen's talk from Sunday morning session, about trials and how Christ heals our wounds. It was so powerful because her parents were there and we asked them to watch it with us! afterwards, sister ferrin and I were just crying pretty much, testifying that Christ knows how they feel, he cares about them and this is how they can have the most joy in life. So we're going to start teaching Becky and her mum and dad this next week :) pray for them!
Joys
-hot chocolate with our friends chai and Malcolm!
-playing with tiny puppies! I cant remember where but it was a highlight lol
-sister flake and Watson got to sleep over Monday night, so fun
-Nathan got us pollos to help us remember that the church is true haha (y'all remember the story of Glenn bringing those to Church haha)
- I'm training!! Ahhh. I am excited but also nervous. Does anyone have any tips? I just wanna make it the best for my new missionary, just wanna be good like how sister cook was for me! <3 pray for me and for my new trainee! Love you guys! Watch general conference and be happy! Carve some pumpkins and eat some cookies and take a drive in the canyon! See ya later Xxx sister Bascom
