Week 23
England-
-not much new to report about this place, it's still been supes hot and humid here. I know right, never would have thought england would be so summery. It's nice tho, not complaining:)
Funny-
-this morning i kneeled down to pray, and then I was trying to say a prayer in my head but realised after a few minutes that i was just counting 12345678910... in my head when I prayed lol tired
-the other day we were riding the bus but went a little too far into Wakefield so we got off and started walking to our next appointment. We're just walking along and sister gamil points and we look and see the wakey elders chillin at a table outside the Lupset pub. Hahaha so random, they were waiting for a friend to show up for a lesson... uh huh..
-so we have been trying to schedule our friend Susan for baptism for months alright, and I read a gen conf talk the other day (the one called "to the friends and investigators of the church") and talks about how the missionaries used Alma 42 and replaced his name in it, and he knew he needed to repent and be baptised. So we texted her that chapter and told her to read it and we'd talk about it. We show up, and first thing she says is, I don't need to get baptised. What no!!!!! Exact opposite of what we wanted to happen lol! She read verse 27: Therefore, O my son, whosoever will come may come and partake of the waters of life freely; and whosoever will not come the same is not compelled to come; but in the last day it shall be restored unto him according to his deeds... So she took that as she doesn't have to change because her heart is good and God knows that. Well yeah, but if you know that you need to be baptised and repent but don't, then you'll be held accountable... I told her Susan, you're either gonna get baptised in this life or the next Haha! Yes so we're working on some damage control from that lesson lol rip. But it's kinda funny to look back and see how it totally backfired hahaha
-So remember how we were trying to find baptismal clothing for Katharine's tiny daughter Mia? The elders dropped off this very dainty and dated little girl dress, it was way too big for mia. So it was just chillin in the flat, and sister gamil and i decided to try it on. And it fit both of us!!!!! Hahhahaaha we were dyin. We went into our cellar and took spooky pics of us down there, it was so funny
-a few days before Katharine got baptised, she got a new tattoo:O hahaha of Alice in wonderland. As sis gamil and I were walking away were like, but why. like why Alice? And sister gamil said, it's like that song, your body is a wonderland hahaha so funny
Spiritual-
-best part of the week for sure was Katharine and mia's baptism <3 they were so excited and it was presh to see them follow the example of Jesus Christ. Sister Cook got to FaceTime in, which was so good as well. I just feel so honoured and blessed that Heavenly Father trusted me to be apart of their journey, it's been so lovely to see her faith and testimony grow and changing her life. Katharine was baptised first (had to go under twice cause first time her elbow came up) and then Mia, and they were just clapping and smiling it was so happy!
- so there's this lady named Angela lol. Sister Cook and I met her way back at the end of May, on a bus to Leeds with Jose. She came to Jose's baptism, and even showed up to church about a month ago but accidentally went to Wakefield ward sacrament meeting. We've tried teaching her but shes a funny lass and it wasnt happening. We invited her to Katharine's baptism, and she came of course, loved it and chatting forever with everyone. She said she switches churches every few months and feels right coming to this church for now. She came to Church yesterday and we just taught her the first lesson during gospel principles, she said it makes sense and she is wanting to learn more, she can relate to Joseph Smith. And sure enough after sacrament meeting, she told me that she had the feeling from the Holy Ghost that she really does need to learn more. So boom! Pray for Angela!
- been thinking about how Joseph Smith took studying so seriously, he wanted to know answers and so he really searched and pondered. If he wouldn't have really done that, who knows if the restoration would have happened! I'm grateful for his example of finding truth for yourself. I'm really working on improving my studies, and I can tell a huge difference!!
-yesterday I was looking at different ensigns and feeling inspired and blessed and excited about life, wow! I love hearing people's conversion stories, sometimes I wish I had one crazy experience ya know where I knew I believed, but I was thinking how I'm so grateful I've had the gospel as a constant in my life and been able to grow and develop my faith a little bit at a time. I was thinking about why I wanted to serve a mission, and tbh it wasn't becuase of Joseph Smith or the book of mormon or the commandments (as awesome as all these things are) but it's because of my family, and how being in an eternal family has blessed me so much and I want others to have that! The temple is the goal y'all, families are forever, I'm so grateful for that :) that's just my random lil spiritual thought
