Week 19
Yo my worldly peeps. Emailing is hard lol to sum everything up ya know it's stressful sometimes, I'll try to catch y'all up from the past few weeks. But life is good and england is fab :)
Speaking of England...
-world cup happening right now, england is doing supes good. But not too good for us, the streets are dead when a game is on, except for when you walk by a pub and hear cheering, and we don't dare knock on doors then haha. I hope england wins the whole thing, would be incredible
-so england has been having a major heat wave the past while, literally it hasn't rained in over a month! Everything is so brown and dead and dry because they don't have any sprinkler/irrigation systems, also everyone thinks it's boiling hot at 27 degrees which really is only 70s Fahrenheit lol. I'm lovin it though, so nice to have nice weather:) and the sun sets so late at night, when I go to bed at 10.30 it's still light outside. Wild
-even tho I'm in England, I'm proud to be American! We had a 4th of July barbeque for p day last week, so fun. Thanks to the fam for the patriotic gear 🇺🇸
Funny
- met Katy Perry's biggest fan! Haha this girl had a Katy Perry shirt, hat, bracelets, and tattoos of katys face on her leg and some of the lyrics to firework on her too! Also carrying two large picture frames of selfies with her and Katy. She was incredible
-knocking, and this cute mum answered. We're talking and I start testifying about something, ya know really just saying good stuff and all the sudden this little girl appears and chucks a handful of grated cheese at my face and yelled "cheese!" Hahahahaha it was soooo random and unexpected
-remember goody (kudzi)? The lady we painted the bright orange walls? She called us again this week, and asked us to help her hang a curtain rod. So we show up in normal skirts and dresses, not thinking it would be hard to do. But when we get there, there was all this carpet laid out skewompous and she said let's do the carpet! Haha so we just straight up fitted her carpet for her. I had no idea what I was doing, sister cook was measuring and being all professional, Goody thought we knew what we were doing lols. Bless her, she's trying to do everything on her own but it was just concrete then the really thin cheap carpet, no padding or anything to keep it secure. She doesn't really have any suppiles either so we used kitchen scissors and lil ballpoint pen to cut and measure. Next time we go we're gonna bring some supplies I think and told her to get padding for the carpet. Haha and she had us take the carpet scraps to the bin but there was none outside so we jsut were walking around trying to find a dumpster to put it in. So funny, oh yeah and she said "next time you come teach about bible" heheh
-our investigator Susan cracks me up. A few weeks ago, she called my companion "sister Sam cook prophet" becuase she's so wise. Also has been sobbing her eyes out everytime we see her cause my companion goes home next week. Last night we went by and she was watering her plants and straight up sprayed me and my bag! Haha savage. She will learn to love me once sister cook leaves haha :)
-On Saturday we were in Wakefield (elders area) and waiting by a bus stop, a lady came so I try contacting her, ya know just sparking up a convo. She was being awkward though and not really responding, and then the bus came. Fast forward to after church yesterday, I was sitting in the chapel I saw that same lady (wearing same outfit) out of the corner of my eye, beelining it to the doors. Lol what! We asked the elders who she was and they weren't sure exacttly. Haha it was just so funny and weird, forgot to mention she was a member when we saw her the first time hahahaha
Spiritual
-i love the horbury ward! They are so great. Seriously would be okay to stay here for a while. I've already been here almost 4 months, sister cook will have been here for 8 months, most people who come to this area stay forever haha. The bishopric just barely was switched last Sunday, and I actually got a lil bit emotional about it, hearing all their testimonies. The new bishop is the old bishops older bro, so that's nice it's still bishop Burnett. I love the little ward family I'm a part of in england!
-Jose gave his first talk yesterday in sacrament, wow! He's so awesome. Last Sunday was a roller coaster and I was really sad about one of our investigators, (agency is the worst lol) but seeing other investigators/recent converts growing in faith so much made me think, hey it's all good! This must be a little tiny portion of how God, must feel, he just want the best for us:)
-one of the nights a world cup game was on, we were walking home and not a soul was out and about. But Right outside our flat, a man and woman with a lil pram were walking towards us and started talking and got two new friends! Chelsea and nick, they have one lil baby and another on the way. She was asking us a lot about death and what happens, and was really interested to meet with us. We taught her a few days later the plan of salvation, and she loved it. She's one of my favorite kind of people, asking really good questions and truly wants to know and understand. She told us afterwards, "I understand why you want to share this with everyone, cause you want everyone to get to the top kingdom! it's all based on your choices though, wow I wish everyone knew about this!" Trueeeeeeeee amen sista.
-so we have a friend named Katherine, she is a self referral from mormon.org. She's amazing! She's had a rough year and half, and just wants a fresh start and new beginning so bad. She was going to be baptised this Friday, but we've pushed it back a few weeks to help her prepare more. She's sweet, posting pics on Facebook about the book of mormon and buying us bags of fruit from the market! Yeah Katherine is fab
So much happens and changes everyday and week it's crazy! I'm grateful I have Heavenly Father on my side to help me out, becuase literally I wouldn't be able to accomplish anything without him, seriously he's done all this for me. I'm grateful I get to be on a mission and for all that I've learned so far :) if you're thinking about going, just do it! And if not, keep on being good disciples of Christ, wherever you're at :)
Love you All! Hope you have a lovely week!
