Week 4
Wow I love england! First week in the field complete! I can't believe I've almost been out a month! Yee
England:
-everyone here has dogs. Lol always walking them out and about and we stop them and chat about the pup and then boom talk about the gospel. Gets em everytime
-so many elderly people! Haha and the thick Yorkshire accent is hard to understand. They're all pretty kind and chatty though, only have gotten yelled at a couple times
-im in the horbury area, and we live in a cute lil flat in the village of horbury. There's an old church across the street that rings every fifteen minutes!! But it's two minutes early everytime lol
-learning to use words like "posh" "dodgy" "lovely" "ginnel" "uni" "rubbish" "lads" "chavs" hehe
-it's been sunny the past few days so bless!!! But rip because it's supposed to snow this weekend for easter :/
Funny:
-the first day I would explain like my bff Liv snow explained perfectly, feeling like a chicken running around with a bag on it's head haha. Yep so true. On one bus, get off, talk to people, knock on some doors, talk to people in the streets, cry a lil bit, get yelled at, get on the bus, read some scriptures, etc. But the first day was such a learning experience for me. Leaping out of my comfort zone and talking to people. Like the guy at the bus station who told us he has seven teeth left and chomps the rotten ones out with pliers. Bless him
-also got proposed to the first day so booyah
-everyone can't get over how small my feet are. Like a crazy amount of people always asking what size they are and stuff. It's so funny
-in england when people talk about the Asians, they mean the muslim people from Pakistan, Iraq, etc. Made me chuckle
-in Gawthrope (a village in my area) there is the world famous coal mining Olympics and musuem!!!!! How Amazing!!!!!!! Haha
-last night my comp and I were having tea (dinner don't worry) and She showed me that there are secret tunnels under our flat. So spooky!!! There were some big man boots down there ahhh I hope there isn't a homeless man down there
Spiritual:
-i think the biggest thing this week is learning how to rely completely and constantly on the Lord. It's so cool how he really guides us as we put our trust in him!! As I talk to all these crazy Englanders, I feel so much of his love for them. I just wish they could understand and feel it for themselves. One thing my companion said that I loved was how we all have different issues and trials, but all have the same solution: the atonement!!! Soo good. Just choose Christ and it'll all work out. He loves you!!
-yesterday before church we were street contacting and ran into a guy named Aiden. We were inviting him to church and just telling him how we know that praying and stuff will help him so much. I asked him how when we were talking how it made him feel and he said he felt warm inside!!! Like what hahaha you should have seen my face I was actually shocked because you always hear people say that ya know but never for real had some one said that to me that didn't really know anything about the holy ghost yet ahhh!! It sounds simple but it was so cool to me, the holy ghost really can help us testify of what we know to be true.
-i can feel the spirit so much everyday! Letting it be my guide!!
Joys:
-my. Companion is amazing!!! Sister Samantha cook from garden city Utah aka bear lake!!!!! I tell her everyday how lucky she is to live there haha. She is teaching me so much and is so kind. We are exactly 7 ,months apart! Her bday in October 4. She's so fun and makes it good and bearable and helps me get out of my comfort zone. We've had a lot of laughs and good convos with some funny English peeps. Everyone says we look like sisters hehe! Maybe it's the smiles that aren't rotting lol. Bless but for real she's the best
-being fed everynight by the members. So delish. Let's hope I don't get too chub lol
Thank you all for the support and emails!!! Love you all!!! Hope you all are excited for easter and gen conf!! I know Christ is always there for us!!!!! Pray for miracles in Horbury!!! Cheers <3
